TWIS #15

This week in Science we did the marshmallow challenge again and it was kinda difficult the first try but then my group started having the hang of it. I really enjoyed working in groups because if i didn't understand what else to do with the project they'll have an idea and we'll agree off of it. The first time we tired the marshmallow challenge it was different because we didn't know how to keep the sticks still so we didn't do that good. But the second time it was easier, we also made it really high we put it on top of two tables. The third time I don't know how it went because I wasn't there that day. Something else we did this week was the 10th grade video intro so my next 10th grade teacher can know how I am.

What i learned this week was how to do a marshmallow challenge, like how to keep the sticks still that kind of stuff and also how to work in a group. I think i work way better in a group then by myself. I heard from one of my partners that they couldn't use the tables because the teacher changed the rules so instead they just drew what they wanted the tower to look like and it ended up being the tallest.
Planning on how many sticks they'll will need for the tower.

How we started in the beginning all the way to the end.

Finding away to put the surface flat so the marshmallow can stick on top.

TWIS #14

This week in science we looked for videos on animals, to see what animal in the ocean eats what, it was just like a food chain. Something else we did this week was read an article its called The Hippo Dilemma:Over-consumption. We also saw videos and story/articles about a bird called sparling something like that, it was about how they got around here cause of one man bung them.

this week was really interesting because we did alot of different things from before. i hope we can keep doing this next time

twis #12

this week in science we did really unique, different things like for example our science booklet it had to be creative but with research. um we practiced with some of the test questions. i dont know we really didn't do a lot of things this week. i also looked lover our ants and feeded then (fruit flys). what was really disgusting was seeing alot of fungi on the orange.

this week i learned about symbiotic relationships, energy pyramids, and food chains and also food webs and things like that.

TWIS #11

What i did last week was go to the park and and look threw dirt, soil to see if we wanted anything from it or in it for our spiders. It was actually really fun and entertaining. I'll like to do this filed trip again. the only thing was trying to find unique things for our spiders.we had a lot of good ideas of what to put in our basket/cage. we also chose to put a little middle piece in there because we found it to be interesting.

I didn't really have pictures because i didn't have a camera, somebody else took pictures of them.

this month in science #10

what we did this month was really interesting. It was way different from the projects this was more fun and different from everything. what we did this month was go outside and ask people questions about how they recycle through their life. Something else we did was draw a poster about waste so it they can make it into a T-shirt. There was people from other places come visit to see how we doing. That's some of the things we did this month.

this week wasnt hard or anything but sometimes it will be confusing. I will like to keep working like this it made me work harder and got my grades higher in this class. we finished the poster. its called one starts millions continue.

Human Impact Ad Campaign

this is showing how one person can throw trash into the ocean and more people do the same thing like it doesnt matter cause one person already did it.

wasted: new york city's giant garbage problem

this article is about how garbage or waste is ruining things and what they doing with all the garbage . they describing how it was happening in each of the years. like today they collect garbage with trucks that use high- polluting diesel fuel and then dump that garbage onto the floor or waste transfers station that are weirdly located in poor neighborhoods.

cricket investigation

Question: What do crickets prefer, fruits or vegetables?

Hypothesis: If I put fruit in one side and vegetable in the other, then the crickets will prefer the vegetable because they're always in grass.

Background Research: Crickets feed on organic materials such as plants and dead stuff, something else that they do is feed on their own dead when there is no other sources or food available. Crickets also have powerful jaws, some even bite humans. They have somewhat flattened bodies  and long antennae.

This picture shows my experimental setup. I put a pile of apples and a pile of celery in the cage.

This picture shows how I gathered data. As you can see, the crickets mostly stayed on the vegetable side.

this week in science #6

this week in science i learned about jelly beans, how we had to separate each one of them by there flavors. we had to do a chain and  find out witch flavor it was.  there was some days that i didn't come to school so i don't really know what happened . but i really enjoyed playing with the jelly beans it was really interesting.

what i am still unsure about is making the chain, the reason im still unsure about this is because its kinda difficult coming up with questions that go with the jelly bean, it had to be a yes or no question. but im sure that ill get the hang of it . thats mostly everything i can say right now.

this week in science #5

this week in science, we did the rocket experiment. what i learned was how can rockets fly with different shapes, the shape can triangle, circle, and squared. but the rocket we thought would really fly was the one with a triangle shape because of the edges. i might go home and do my own rocket, and throw it at people :D. that's what i mostly learned this week!

i had a lot funny moments with my group, i think we got together really well.  we did a lot of things this week like observe the animals behavior and things like that. i would like to learn more about those animals and more about rockets also. that's mostly everything i did this week. i really had fun like always.

This week in science #4

this week in science we did a plant investagtion #2, and what i experience was how fast the plants grew because i didnt know that they were gonna grow so quickly. Like for example the plants grew 8cm long just in 2 weeks, i had alot of fun looking at how fast it grew!

this week in science i learned how fast these kind of plants grew, i wonder why other plants dont grow so quickly like these. Is it because it has some type of material in it ? thats all i want to know, and something else i learned this week was how to graph in the computer. It was really confusing at first but then i got the hang of it !

this week in science #3

this week in science we did (iv) (dv) variables, and we also did a sheet of paper that showed me how to do hypopthesis !!!! we also did the plants measurement and we also been looking how the plants grow because we put different water in each of them.

what i learned in science this week was how to do hypopthesis. if ___ then___ and because ! and also about my plants how they drown from too much waterrr

this week in science #2

This week in science we had fun because we planted Brassica rapa's seeds. we planted 3 seeds in each cup and then watered them differently . to see which one  grows  faster or slower.

What  i learned in science this week was really interesting facts about Brassica rapa's seeds, like for example it can stay in a refrigator for 10 years. i learned alot of amazing facts about them . the seeds were really small.thats mostly what i remember i learned. i wonder what we going to learn next week , maybe find out how our plants are growing.
